What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies, such as local storage, pixels and scripts, work in comparable ways. In this policy, “cookies” covers all of them.
- First party cookies are set by [DOMAIN].
- Third party cookies are set by another company whose service appears on our website, such as Google.
- Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies stay until they expire or you delete them.
How we use them
We group cookies into four categories. Only the first is active without your consent.
| Category | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Makes the website work, remembers your cookie choices and protects our forms from spam | Always on |
| Functional | Loads content from other services, such as the Google map on our Contact page | Off until you agree |
| Analytics | Helps us understand how visitors use the website so we can improve it | Off until you agree |
| Marketing | Advertising and retargeting | Not used |
We use Google Consent Mode in its basic setting. Google analytics tags do not load at all until you give consent, and no data is sent to Google for analytics before then.
We do not use cookies for advertising, retargeting, cross site tracking or selling information.
Cookies we use
We configure Google Analytics so it does not collect advertising identifiers or use Google signals, and we limit data retention in Analytics to 14 months. Google’s handling of this data is described in How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
The KOSMOS website itself does not use local storage or session storage for tracking. Our fonts are hosted on our own server, so loading them does not contact Google Fonts.
Your choices
- Cookie settings. Use the Cookie settings button in the footer of any page to accept, reject or change your choices by category. Rejecting is as easy as accepting, and the website works fully either way, except that the map will not load.
- Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a refusal of all nonessential cookies.
- Browser settings. You can block or delete cookies in your browser. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop the forms or the cookie banner from working correctly. Instructions: Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge.
- Google Analytics opt out. You can also install the Google Analytics Opt out Browser Add on.
We keep a record of your consent choice for 12 months, then ask again.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when we add, remove or change a technology on the website. If a change needs new consent, the banner will ask you again. The date at the top shows the latest version.
